Challengers

We played Challengers in a group of eight. All experienced boardgamers exept me as a „novice“! It was great gameplay, Colourful, challenging and with so much laughter. I fell in love at first play and call it my own now too. I came here to check for the Winter Expansion but unfortunately couldn‘t find it. Can‘t wait to play again and again … and again! (and check out the Solo Play too!)

I played this game at the Spiel in Essen 2022. The fun is in building the deck, not in playing the actual round. While playing you simply reveal the next card from your deck. So the game play is rather dull. It gets interesting in between rounds, when you have to choose which cards to add to your deck. What I liked: The art looks great. Like a French comic book, but contemporary. What I didn't like that much: The actual gameplay and the fact that you need a lot of players. So why is this a one star review? If this would have been a normal card game I would have given it 3 stars. Maybe 4 when played with eight players (didn't try this) But the developers decided to pack a lot of extra stuff into the box. Unfortunately this extra stuff is made from materials like Neoprene with huge negativ environmental impacts. Why? Why? Why? So sad :(

I thought about graphics: awesome. I thought about gameplay: on top! I thought about the idea: what a bunch of arts!
