  • I mean, it's big, must be better
I am mainly reviewing the approach and design of the box and containers. There is nothing wrong with the game, this game and it's expansion is still may favorite game ever. So ... the box ... yeah it's big. TOO BIG! There is literally 75% wasted space inside the box. The pictures of the box don't make it clear, but the box is basically the height of 2 of the cards on top of each other. This equates to literally 50% of the wasted space inside the box. Also, the mechanism for holding the cards leaves a ton of gaps, or rather air space, around them, Which means they slide around and rub each other with the slightest of movements of the closed box. There are entire sections that are just air, wasted space. The area inside the box that is supposed to be for meeples and other wooden tokens is literally 20-25x the size needed to store all of the tokens. Lastly, the instructions and scoring card literally don't fit anywhere, your are supposed to just store them straddling on top of the different sized areas in the box. This is just poor and lazy design and consequently the manual and board slop around inside. I think in my haste to purchase, I may have hoped they would have added more cards for the base set, or even the expansions, but it is still just the same size game. A better approach to this would have been to simply call this a COMPLETE version instead of BIG BOX and create nicer and a more intuitive, efficient method for storage of the pieces.
